Sephiria Beginner Guide
A complete first-run route covering controls, early upgrades, survival priorities, artifacts, resource timing, and the first dangerous boss encounters.
Your First Descent
The first goal is not a perfect build. It is learning how enemies telegraph attacks, how rooms control space, and which rewards keep the next fight safe. Enter every room from the edge, identify ranged threats, and preserve an escape route before attacking.
Controls and Combat Rhythm
Sephiria rewards short, deliberate attack windows. Move while reading the room, bait an attack, then punish the recovery. Long attack strings are risky when another enemy can enter from outside the screen center.
- Keep movement available instead of spending every option at once.
- Eliminate ranged and control enemies before slow melee targets.
- Use corners to reduce the number of attack angles.
- Reposition before collecting drops in an uncleared room.
Early Upgrade Order
Choose upgrades that solve the problem you actually have. Damage matters, but reliable movement and survival create more opportunities to deal it.
| Priority | Choose when | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon consistency | Attacks feel slow or narrow | Makes every room safer |
| Mobility | You cannot leave danger | Protects health and tempo |
| Sustain | Attrition ends the run | Extends learning time |
| Scaling | The core already works | Converts safety into boss damage |
Artifacts and Tablet Placement
Artifacts activate as soon as you own them. Tablets strengthen adjacent Artifacts, so backpack position is part of the build rather than housekeeping. Place the most important Artifact first, then reserve reachable edges for useful Tablet adjacency.
Avoid filling every slot with unrelated effects. A compact cluster supporting one damage pattern usually performs better than a crowded collection of individually exciting items.
Resource Management
Spend for the next danger, not for an imagined perfect endgame. Before committing currency, ask whether the purchase improves the next two rooms or the upcoming boss.
- Repair a clear survival weakness.
- Strengthen the weapon pattern you already use.
- Preserve enough flexibility for a high-impact shop choice.
- Skip upgrades that force a complete rebuild without support.
Preparing for Bosses
Enter a boss with a simple plan: identify the safe response to each telegraph, attack during recovery, and stop the combo before the next pattern begins. The first attempt is reconnaissance. Surviving long enough to see every pattern is progress.
Common Beginner Mistakes
- Chasing damage while standing inside overlapping telegraphs.
- Rebuilding around every rare drop.
- Filling inventory space without protecting key adjacency.
- Saving all resources until they no longer affect the run.
- Splitting co-op items evenly instead of assigning them by build value.
Next Steps
Repeat the opening route until movement, threat order, and inventory checks feel automatic. Then explore the full Sephiria guides and compare new drops against a clear build purpose. Official patches are available through the Steam community hub.
